Prof. Pradeep Sharma is currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Dean (Projects) at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University). He obtained his Doctorate degree from Hokkaido University, Japan, in 2011. Prof. Sharma was the recipient of the Japanese government’s MEXT fellowship, which supported his pursuit of a Ph.D. on Dairy wastewater purification using a Hybrid Constructed Wetland system in Japan. With four years of industrial experience, he has conducted Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies for various developmental projects.

Prof. Sharma possesses over 11 years of research and academic experience, during which he has published over 50 research articles in reputable national and international journals/books/conference proceedings. He also serves as a reviewer for prestigious journals such as Ecological Engineering, Groundwater for Sustainable Development, City-Territory and Architecture, Applied Environmental Research, and the Asian Journal of Water, Environment, and Pollution. Prof. Sharma has also received four research grants exceeding Rs. 100 Lakhs through central funding agencies of India (DBT and MoEF). Furthermore, he has published one patent and provided guidance to five Ph.D. scholars and six M. Tech/M.Sc. dissertations. He has been honored with the ‘Excellence in Research’ award by Graphic Era Deemed to be University in 2015 and 2018 and PMSDS in 2021.

He is actively involved in teaching a range of courses in the master’s and Ph.D. programs, covering subjects such as Advanced Environmental Science, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Monitoring, Pollution Control, Fundamentals of Environmental Science, and Environmental Economics. His research interests revolve around several areas, including Wastewater purification through Nature-based technologies, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Monitoring and analysis, Bioremediation, Constructed wetland Technology, and Microbial Fuel Cell.
