RESEARCH AREA
My current research interest lies on exploring the plant-pollinator interactions, reproductive biology, genetic and chemical diversity of the Himalayan plants for their conservation and sustainable utilization.

Prabhakar Semwal is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Graphic Era (deemed to be University), Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. Before joining GEU, Dr. Semwal worked at the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology, Dehradun (Government of Uttarakhand) for five years in different capacities. Dr. Semwal worked on reproductive biology, genetic diversity, medicinal properties and socioeconomic importance of Saussurea obvallata (Brahma Kamal) in Uttarakhand, Himalaya, and his recommendations has been submitted to the Uttarakhand Biodiversity Board, (Govt. of Uttarakhand), Dehradun. His major research interests include plant-pollinator interactions, reproductive biology, pollination biology, phytochemistry and health benefits of the Himalayan botanicals. Dr. Semwal has published more than 45 research and review articles in highly reputed journals (Food Chemistry, Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition, Food Reviews International, International Journal of Surgery, Phytomedicine, Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy, Antioxidant, etc.) along with eight book chapters (Springer Cham, Elsevier, John Wiley & Sons, Springer Nature) and one edited book (CRC Press). Presently, he is supervising PhD students and also working on two research projects funded by Uttarakhand Council for Biotechnology (UCB), Govt. of Uttarakhand, India.

He served as a guest associate editor for Frontiers in Pharmacology (Ethnopharmacology Section) and as a review editor for Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Pharmacology, Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, Molecules, Applied Sciences, Ethnobotany Research & Applications, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, etc.
