In early semesters, M.Tech CAD/CAM/Robotics program covers topics such as mathematical methods for engineers, advanced engineering design, manufacturing processes, and materials, and advanced computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). The mathematical methods for engineers course introduces students to various mathematical techniques and tools that are useful in engineering and design. The advanced engineering design course provides a deep understanding of the principles of engineering design and their applications.
The manufacturing processes and materials course covers various manufacturing methods and materials used in industry. Finally, the advanced CAM course focuses on advanced computer-aided manufacturing technologies and their application in industrial processes. The program also focuses on robotics and advanced computer-aided design (CAD). Students will learn about various robotics systems, their components, and the principles of their operation. Additionally, students will learn about the design of robotic systems and the use of sensors, actuators, and feedback systems. The advanced CAD course provides a deep understanding of the principles of computer-aided design, including geometric modelling, solid modelling, and surface modelling.
It also includes a course on advanced robotics, where students will learn about kinematics, dynamics, and control systems. In later semesters, students typically take more specialized courses related to their area of interest. They may choose courses related to automation, industrial robotics, intelligent systems, mechatronics, or digital manufacturing. Additionally, the program requires students to undertake a research project or thesis work in their area of interest. This project allows students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world problems and prepares them for research or development roles in industry or academia. Students are trained in advanced software tools used in computer-aided design and manufacturing, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, and Pro-E. They also learn to develop control algorithms for robots, perform kinematic and dynamic analyses, and design robotic systems that can perform complex tasks. Additionally, they learn about sensors, actuators, and feedback systems, which are essential components of robotics.
