On 10th of February 2024, the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences in collaboration with School of Law ( Graphic Era Hill University) organized a ‘Knowledge Sharing Program’ on ‘Sociological Aspects of Crime & Deviance’ for the students of Law. Dr. Nidhi Tyagi (Associate Professor, Department of Humanities & Social Sciences) was the Guest Speaker of the day. 65 students of Law from different semesters actively participated in the event. During the session the speaker threw light on the fact that how Sociology examines individual and group behaviors by adults and juveniles that violate the social norms.
The Guest Speaker added to the knowledge of students that different theories in the field of criminology have developed through Sociological inquiry and these theories have asserted that criminal behavior is a normal response of biologically and psychologically normal individuals to a particular kind of social situations and circumstances. At the end of the session, she interacted with the students thus making the session interesting. The insightful session concluded with the vote of thanks to the speaker proposed by Head of the Department Mr. B.M. Dutta.
