Professor Ashish Thapliyal, a distinguished researcher, has made significant contributions in the field of cell signaling and specifically in the modulation of Ion Channels by GPCR during his tenure at the Department of Biology, Utah State University, USA. His extensive research spans across four key areas. The first area of his expertise lies in the study of monomeric Ras proteins, earning him international recognition in the realm of N-type calcium channels and electrophysiology (patch clamp technique).  Furthermore, Professor Thapliyal has been actively engaged in modeling vector-borne diseases, particularly malaria, using the VECTRI model, in conjunction with analyzing the impact of climate change.  He also works with impact various anthropogenic activities with reference to biodiversity conservation. Additionally, his research delves into the development of Anti-Microbial Peptides (AMPs) through the innovative implementation of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI).  Beyond his scholarly achievements, Professor Thapliyal is widely regarded for his commitment to social welfare and agricultural development in Uttarkashi district. He diligently works towards improving the socio-economic conditions of marginalized communities, specially SC/ST, and local farmers. Utilizing his expertise in technology, he successfully developed product, launched them in market and implements value-added solutions for the benefit of the community. Notably, he has established a Technology Resource Center (TRC) in village Dhauntri, district Uttarkashi, which receives funding from the Uttarakhand Council for Science and Technology, Government of Uttarakhand for a startup that is recognized by Govt. of Uttarakhand.  With an impressive repertoire of published peer-reviewed research papers and completed/ongoing funded research projects, Professor Thapliyal has played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Department of Biotechnology. Furthermore, he has spearheaded a unique research mentorship program catering to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the university. His dedication and ingenuity have been recognized through two granted and three filed patents, a successful transfer of technology (TOT), and the launch of a product specifically tailored for farmers.
