Dr. Vijay Tripathi is currently working as an Associate Professor (Research) in the Department of Microbiology, Graphic Era Deemed to be University, Dehradun, U.K. India. Dr. Tripathi is an environmental biotechnologist cum bioinformatician to answer the questions related to the dissemination of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB) and genes (ARGs) in the anthropogenic environment using culturable and unculturable techniques. Before joining Graphic Era Deemed to be University, He was an Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Engineering and Assistant Director Research at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj. Before joining the academic positions, he was a visiting Scientist at the Department of Soil, Water, and Environmental Science, Agricultural Research Organization, The Volcani Centre, Bet Dagan, Israel. He developed the bioinformatics pipeline to characterize the Class-1 Integron-associated ARGs in different European wastewater treatment plants. He also worked with Prof. Edward Trifonov (founder of Israeli bioinformatics) as a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of Evolution, University of Haifa, Israel. He discovered and coined the universal visible pattern of “strong nucleosomes”. Dr. Tripathi was awarded a doctoral degree from the Center of Bioinformatics, University of Allahabad, India. During his doctoral tenure, he was awarded a prestigious MUIR fellowship and visited the University of Cagliari, Italy, for one year.
He has edited three Books published with Springer-Nature, Singapore. He is the author of more than 50 research, review and book chapters which have appeared in leading national and international journals with high impact factors. He has been awarded the Early Career Research Award (2017) from the Department of Science and Technology, Science and Engineering Research Boards, New Delhi, Government of India and has also received the most prestigious DBT-GlobalStar research grant, European Commission (2020). Recently, Dr. Tripathi has been awarded a research grant from Uttar Pradesh Council of Agricultural Research, Lucknow. He has guided 4 Ph.D. and 9 P.G. students.
