Dr. Devabrata Sahoo has a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Israel. He has completed his B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering and M.Eng. in Space Engineering & Rocketry (Aerodynamics Specialization). His research expertise is in experimental and computational aerodynamics in supersonic speed and he has been actively involved in performing research in this area for the last 14 years. He is familiar with conducting experiments which include high-speed flow visualization (Schlieren/shadowgraph and oil flow), time-averaged and unsteady pressure measurements, and force measurements. Along with experiments, he has also performed computations throughout these years and is familiar with the computational tool Ansys/Fluent. He has more than 50 publications of international repute. He is a reviewer of a number of reputed international journals in the domain of Aerospace Engineering such as Acta Astronautica, Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Measurements, Computers and Fluids, Advances in Astronautics Science and Technology, etc. He have strong research collaborations with professors of highly reputed international and national universities like Technion University – ISRAEL, IT Carlow – IRELAND, Southampton University – UK, Glasgow University-UK, Sejong University- South Korea, IIT Bombay, IIT HYD, IIT Kanpur, B.I.T, Mesra, etc. In addition to that he has collaborations with Industries like AvexTech Pvt Ltd – Dubai, HEMRL (DRDO) – Pune, ARDE (DRDO) – Pune, ElComponics Aerob Pvt Ltd – Noida etc. He has worked under a project funded by the Israel ministry of Defence where he used to write yearly proposals and submission reports along with conduction of the research work (both computations and Experiments at supersonic speed). He has designed and setup of a complete supersonic wind tunnel in BIT Mesra during the period he was working as research fellow at B.I.T, Mesra. He have worked under several research projects funded by ISRO and DRDO from 2010 to 2014 in projects related to high-speed aerodynamics funded by the Govt. of India and was involved in designing and setting up a supersonic wind tunnel in the Department of Space Engineering & Rocketry, B.I.T, Mesra, India. He is also familiar with conducting experiments on subsonic wind tunnels. Along with the wind tunnel testing, he has also been involved in setting up various other lab instruments. His current research interests are high speed aerodynamics, subsonic flows, unsteady aerodynamics, experimental aerodynamics, computational fluid dynamics and wind tunnel testing.
