Dr. Arunima Nayak is an active researcher in the broad area of Environmental Science and Technology and especially in the field of waste management and materials development for water treatment. She is currently Professor and Head of Department of Chemistry, Graphic Era University. She has been instrumental in start of M.Sc Chemistry program in Chemistry Department. Her total research paper is 60 in high impact journals of repute; with an h-index of 27. Her total citations are 11,856 in the area of Environmental Science and Technology. She is one of the top 2% most influential scientists as declared by Stanford University for consecutive 3 years 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Her academic basis is in Chemistry with a PhD from IIT Roorkee in the year 2012. She was awarded the prestigious Marie Curie Incoming Fellow from the European Union in the year 2015 for undertaking post-doctoral work. The post doc fellowship enabled her to work under a 2-year funded “VALOWASTE” project with a focus in reducing the environmental impact of wine industries. The project helped her to develop novel techniques and concepts on valorization of wastes generated from the agro food sector at a high-quality applied research facility and within a collaboration network of top-level EU research facilities. The new concept of zero-waste and sustainable bio-based economy which was the basis of the project is expected to mature progressively in the coming decades.
