She is a dynamic and versatile teacher and researcher with more than 21 years of experience and holds a broad analytical and technical skills. She started her research career by working on molecular mechanism of pathogenesis of Salmonella typhimurium in animal models. Role of nitric oxide (NO) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) was investigated in animal models after infection and after treatment with different plant extracts. Through her hard work and experience, she was able to develop cell culture system in the department.
She along with her team also worked on nNOS-NO system activity where they investigated the effects of herbal extracts on neuroblastoma cell-lines. Simultaneously she also worked on neuroinflammation where she contributed mainly focusing on Parkinson’s disease. Currently she is working on saponin and essential oil. Work is being focused on their industrial and commercial applications. She also worked on a project (funded by UCOST) as a Co-PI where medicinal properties of traditional alcoholic drinks of specific area of hills were assessed.
Due to her dedication and contribution in research she has published several research papers and book chapters in peer reviewed journals and books. She has immense experience in organizing conferences and workshops. Other than scientific aspect she has also expertise in Yoga and Meditation which is evident from her contribution in organizing various stress management activities for teachers, students and other staff of the university. She is also a member of editorial board of International Journal of Plant Biotechnology.
