Dr. Durgesh Kumar Jaiswal is working as an Assistant Professor (Research) at the Department of Biotechnology, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun, India. He is an emerging expert in microbial ecology, ecological restoration, and sustainable agriculture and has a deep understanding of the fundamental and cutting-edge aspects of Microbial-Biotechnology. He is also well-versed in instrumentation and the latest tools and techniques in molecular & microbial-biotechnology and plant-microbe interaction. His research work emphasizes achieving the SDGs (2.2, 2.3, 3.8 & 15.1) at the regional level by harnessing the microbial ecosystem/crop microbiomes and engineering the microbial consortium to unlock various applications like improvement of crop growth or yields & soil health, management of biotic and abiotic stress; ecological restoration and revitalization of contaminated agricultural lands and also lignocellulose-degradation to biofuel production. Dr. Jaiswal is also actively involved in the extension program and has conducted several Farmers’ meetings to distribute his biofertilizer & biopesticide for sustainable agriculture and multipurpose environmental benefits. He is also good in scientific communication, and within a short span of his research period, he has published  18 research articles, 11 review articles, 12 editorial/book Reviews/popular Articles, 16 book chapters & 2 E-books in reputed peer-reviewed Journals like Nature Climate Change; Soil Biology and Biochemistry, Plant Cell Reports, Environmental and Experimental Botany, Science of The Total Environment, Microbiological Research, Frontiers in Microbiology, Chemosphere, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Plant Growth Regulation, Trends in Analytical Chemistry, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, BMC microbiology & Reviews in Environmental Science and Bio-Technology etc., In pursuit of the same professionally, he has served reviewer expert for international scientific journals of Springer, Elsevier, Frontier, MDPI & Wiley. Moreover, he has submitted the partial gene sequence of more than 62 microbial strains identified as PGPR, entomopathogenic fungi, fungal disease, pesticide degrading, and cellulose-degrading submitted in the NCBI database.
