RESEARCH AREA

  • My current research interests lie in interaction design education, user behavior analysis, and the integration of artificial intelligence in UX methodologies. I am particularly focused on cognitive psychology, micro-interactions, and digital ethnography to enhance user-centered design practices in domains such as education, fintech, and public services.

Kuldeep Umaraiya is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Design at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. He holds a dual degree in Interaction Design (B.Des + M.Des) from IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay.

Prior to his academic role, he worked in the UX design industry with companies like Upstox, where he led the design of investment planning features and developer platforms, and Schlumberger, where he created UX pattern guidelines for internal systems. His earlier design experiences include projects targeting rural populations, emerging users, and socially impactful digital solutions.

Kuldeep has presented academic research at international forums such as NordiCHI and India HCI. His teaching approach is rooted in design research, hands-on studio learning, and the critical application of technology in human-centered design. He is actively engaged in mentoring, curriculum development, and building a research-oriented design culture within academia.
