Dr. Rakesh Singh earned his Ph.D. in seismotectonics from the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun. He possesses hands-on experience in managing seismic networks, proficiently handling both telemetric and stand-alone systems. Currently, his research focus revolves around the application of InSAR techniques to analyze surface deformation, showcasing his dedication to advancing his understanding of geodynamic processes. Dr. Singh currently serves as the Principal Investigator of the SERB-TARE project and holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun. Additionally, he has also received a research grant from the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), Govt of Uttarakhand, further highlighting his success in securing funding for valuable research endeavors. He has 4+ years of teaching experience in geology and petroleum engineering.
Dr. Rakesh Singh received the Excellence in Research of the Year Award 2022 from the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami. The award underscores Dr. Singh’s outstanding contributions to research and his noteworthy impact on the academic and scientific
communities in the Himalayan region. Notably, Dr. Singh’s impact is further evident in his supervision of ongoing Ph.D. students, successful guidance of numerous projects, and the publication of several research papers and technical articles in reputable journals and conferences, showcasing his commitment to advancing geological knowledge and education. He has delivered several keynote lectures at CSIR institutions, national international conferences, DST Training workshops and other reputed institutions. Dr. Rakesh Singh also conducted a comprehensive Geological and Geophysical Field investigation, collaborating with IIRS-ISRO, Dehradun experts’ team, to unravel the subsurface image and determine the possible cause of the sudden subsiding of Joshimath town, showcasing his multidisciplinary approach to addressing real-world geological challenges.
