B.Sc (Hons.) Geology

B.Sc (Hons.) Geology is a three-year undergraduate program that teaches students about the study of the earth’s physical structure, history, and processes, including minerals, rocks, fossils, earthquakes, volcanoes, and natural resources.

B.Sc (Hons.) Geology is an undergraduate degree program focusing on the Earth’s physical structure, composition, and history. It encompasses various disciplines such as mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, geophysics, and sedimentology. Students learn about the formation of rocks, minerals, and fossils and the processes that shape the Earth’s surface and interior. The program emphasizes fieldwork, laboratory work, and theoretical knowledge to help students understand the geological processes that have shaped our planet. In 2021, the Petroleum Engineering and Earth Sciences Department started offering B.Sc. (Hons.) Geology program.

The goal is to equip students with fundamental and specialized geology knowledge that they may use in fields including the petroleum industry, mineral exploration and exploitation, water resource management, environmental protection, and the management of natural hazards.
The department is dedicated to delivering top-notch instruction and turning out geologists and geoscientists who are well-educated, taught, and supported by its highly competent professors and infrastructure. This program helps students pursue professions in geosciences, which have a wide range of applications in governmental, private, and non-governmental organizations as well as in higher education and scholarly research both in India and abroad.
