About The Program

The BA Program integrates core social science disciplines with practical, application-oriented learning. Students engage in much more than traditional lectures; the program emphasizes active learning through collaborative classroom activities that encourage creative and analytical approaches to contemporary economic and social issues. Select courses incorporate simulations that require students to make strategic decisions in real-world scenarios, such as managing organizational or corporate situations.

The department offers comprehensive coverage of major areas in modern social sciences and currently provides two subject combinations under the BA Program. The first combination includes History, Political Science, and Psychology, while the second consists of History, Political Science, and Economics. History is a core and permanent subject with a fixed syllabus, whereas the remaining subjects are offered based on departmental availability each semester, allowing students the flexibility to choose their preferred combination.

The program aims to make students active participants in the learning process. Internships, both on and off campus, provide valuable opportunities for hands-on experience and professional exposure. The department also emphasizes professionally relevant service activities that engage with public and private organizations at local, state, and national levels. The primary mission of the BA Program is to provide high-quality educational opportunities that prepare students to become informed citizens and competent professionals, equipped with strong critical thinking skills and the ability to undertake independent analysis.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board.
  • Students from any stream (Science/Commerce/Humanities) are eligible to apply.
  • A minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination is required (as per University norms)
