


Assistant Professor Computer Applications
Afsar Jahan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Applications. She is currently pursuing her PhD and holds a Master’s degree in Computer Applications (MCA) along with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications (BCA). She is also UGC NET qualified (2018), reflecting her strong academic foundation and research aptitude. Her primary research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Explainable AI (XAI). She has been actively working on machine learning and deep learning–based approaches for forest fire detection and early warning systems, involving prediction, classification, and decision support mechanisms using time-series data, remote sensing inputs, and smart sensing technologies. Her work also includes hybrid models and explainable frameworks to improve accuracy, transparency, and reliability of intelligent systems. She is deeply involved in teaching, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration, and consistently strives to translate advanced computational techniques into practical, scalable, and impactful real-world solutions.
