About The Program

Strategic design for next-generation intelligent products and spatial systems advances transdisciplinary practice by leveraging Human Intelligence (HI), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Emerging Technologies to drive innovation in systemic design, organizational strategy, and the augmentation of Human Environment Cognition (HEC).

The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Product and Interior Design is an advanced postgraduate program for designers who want to move beyond isolated objects or spaces and address the complete relationship among people, products, furniture, interiors, technology, and the environment. It cultivates design strategists and research-led practitioners capable of engaging with complexity across physical and spatial scales.

The program combines the industrial product focus on form, function, ergonomics, materials, manufacturing, prototyping, smart systems, lifecycle, and market viability with the interior and spatial focus on human behavior, habitat, materiality, ambience, immersive technology, regenerative systems, and experiential performance.

Students learn to translate complex user and environmental requirements into coherent product-space ecosystems that are meaningful, technically feasible, culturally responsive, economically viable, inclusive, and ecologically responsible. Advanced research, iterative visualization, digital modeling, fabrication, strategic innovation, and industry engagement support the progression from inquiry to implementation.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

  • Academic Qualification : To be eligible for the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Product and Interior Design program, a candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree of minimum 4 years duration in any specialization.
  • Entrance Exam : Candidate admission may be based on Graphic Era's entrance test or a personal interview, unless the candidate has a valid score from a national-level entrance examination such as GATE / CEED / NID-DAT / NIFT Entrance Exam.

Entrance Exam is exempted for GEU Alumni.

Stream: M.Sc. Product and Interior Design

The objective of M.Sc. Product and Interior Design is to create meaningful, functional, desirable, immersive, resilient, and restorative products and habitats that respond dynamically to human needs and planetary health. The specialization treats objects and spaces as an interconnected continuum rather than separate design outcomes.

At the master's level, this requires the integration of manufacturing processes, mechanical principles, material science, sustainable lifecycle strategy, ergonomics, and smart product systems with sensor-driven ambience, parametric modeling, circular economy principles, spatial materiality, and sensory aesthetics.

Product design shapes how people interact with the physical world through tangible, manufactured artifacts. Interior and spatial experience design orchestrates the atmosphere and enclosure in which those artifacts are encountered. Together, they determine utility, perceived quality, behavior, comfort, identity, and the physiological and psychological quality of experience.

The integrated practice converts complex requirements into manufacturable solutions and living ecosystems. It balances form, function, technology, structural and material feasibility, human behavior, ecological performance, and economic value across the complete lifecycle - from concept and production or construction to use, adaptation, recovery, and disposal.
