National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is India’s largest and most dynamic youth organization, shaping students into disciplined, confident and responsible citizens of the nation. Established in 1948, NCC has grown into a nationwide uniformed force of young leaders who carry the spirit of "Unity and Discipline" with pride.

NCC operates through a three-tier structure – Army, Navy, and Air Wing – with Directorates across all states. The Corps is headed by a Director General, an Army Officer of the rank of Lieutenant General, who is responsible for the functioning of the National Cadet Corps in the country through the parade. At the State Level, the country has been divided into 17 Directorates covering all States and Union Territories. Each of the State National Cadet Corps Directorate Headquarters controls two to fourteen Group Headquarters. While Directorates are commanded by Brigadiers or their equivalents, the Groups are commanded by Colonels or equivalents from the Air Force and the Navy, NCC Units are commanded by Major/Lieutenant Colonel or their equivalents, and the ANOs command at the college level. Cadets undergo military-style training, drill, weapon handling, physical conditioning, map reading, first-aid, leadership grooming, and disaster response skills, preparing them to serve the nation whenever duty calls.

What makes NCC truly extraordinary is the limitless opportunities it offers:

  • Republic Day Camp (RDC) – the country’s most prestigious youth camp, attended by the PM, President & top dignitaries.
  • Prime Minister’s Rally – where the best cadets showcase drills, flag area, and cultural prowess.
  • Youth Exchange Program (YEP) – a once-in-a-lifetime chance to represent India internationally.
  • TSC (Thal Sainik Camp) – where cadets prove physical stamina, firing skills, field craft & survival.
  • VSC, AATC, Army Attachment, CATC, NIC, Trekking & Adventure Camps – offering exposure, military experience, and teamwork.
  • Para Training, Rock Climbing, Mountaineering, Sailing, Scuba & Drill Competitions – making cadets fearless and future-ready.

Along with uniform and drill, NCC instils patriotism, leadership, discipline and social responsibility. Cadets participate in social drives, Swachh Bharat campaigns, blood donation, plantation drives, awareness rallies, and become role models in their communities.

NCC opens doors to incredible career paths:

  • Direct entry in armed forces through NCC Special Entry Scheme
  • Preference in government services
  • Boost in personality and confidence for any profession

From camps to command tasks, from firing ranges to parade grounds, from leading troops to representing India abroad — NCC transforms ordinary students into extraordinary leaders.
