SDG –YEC (SDG –Youth Engagement Centre), GEU was established in Graphic Era Deemed to be University, Dehradun in Collaboration with Centre for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPPGG), Government of Uttarakhand on 21 August 2024 at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) Campus, Dehradun.
Prof. (Dr) Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era Deemed to be University and Dr. Manoj Kumar Pant, ACEO, Centre for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPPGG), Government of Uttarakhand signed an MOU to strengthen the partnership of Academia and Government towards achieving the vision 2030 in the state of Uttarakhand.

Mr Suraj Chand, SDG Capacity Building Communication and Training Analyst from CPPGG and Dr Anugrah Rohini Lall, Assistant Professor and SDG-YEC Cordinator,GEU also witnessed the occasion.
Dr. Manoj Kumar Pant, ACEO informed on the occasion that the SDG Youth Engagement Center will be critical and innovative initiative toward youth engagement in Sustainable Development Goals. This crucial step will bridge the gap between the Academia and Government. Prof. (Dr) Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era Deemed to be University, welcomed the initiative for youth and faculty members, emphasizing the need of a common platform for the young minds to engage in cross learning with community and government bodies while contributing to the development goals and overall socio-economic development in the state.
The centre aimed at social innovation where students can engage and collaborate with organisations and individuals for local solutions, capacity building for the youth and civil society, exchange of ideas and insights regarding the sustainable development goals in the state
The center will also provide technical support for training of youth for social innovation and entrepreneurship and youth leadership besides serving as a well-equipped space for partnerships for training, consultations, academic simulations and seminars with faculty, entrepreneurs and institutional stakeholders for social innovation, pedagogy for universities and the goals in focus.

On 22nd April 2025, the event “A Call to Action for Earth Day” was organised by SDG–YEC, Graphic Era Deemed to be University (GEU), in association with the Centre for Public Policy and Good Governance, Government of Uttarakhand, in collaboration with the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) and the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Aligned with the global theme “Our Power, Our Planet”, the event highlighted youth-led initiatives for environmental sustainability.

The programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Narpinder Singh, who addressed the gathering on the adverse impact of human activities on the environment and stressed the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle. The address concluded with a collective pledge to protect the Earth.
The day began with a Cleanliness Drive at 7:30 AM, starting from University Gate No. 1 and concluding at the Civil Gate, with participation from NSS volunteers, students, faculty members, and municipal authorities. The drive was coordinated by Dr. Anugrah R. Lall (SDG–YEC Coordinator), Dr. Pandey (DSW), Dr. Kapil Sharma, Ms. Antima Chamoli, Dr. Bharti Sharma, and faculty from HSS participated the drive Over 100 students actively participated.
A Rally for Awareness followed, featuring slogans and a Nukkad Natak. Competitions in slogan writing and poster making were held, judged by Dr. Sweta Khanduri, Dr. Debapriya Ganguly, Ms. Rinky Rawat, and Dr. Manaswi Semwal.
Winners included Ms. Nandini Kagdiyal, Neha Chand, Ms. Diya Khattri, and Pratiksha Panwar. The event concluded with a strong message of youth responsibility and environmental action, organised under the guidance of Dr. Anugrah R. Lall, Dr. Kapil Sharma, and Dr. Prabha Lama, with the support of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor.

July 16. Harela celebration. The SGD Youth Engagement Centre at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) marked a vibrant festival of Harela with an inspiring, eco-cautious initiative.
Students members creatively painted planters and planted saplings, symbolizing their deep engagement to sustainability and environment.

The hand crafted planters were presented with reverence to the esteemed faculty members of the Graphic Era (Deemed to be University): Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala, Founder President, Prof. (Dr.) Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor; Prof. (Dr.) Santosh S. Saraf, Pro Vice Chancellor; Dr. Naresh Kumar Sharma, Registrar, and Dr. Prabha Lama, Head, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. Their gracious acceptance of the symbolic offering underscored the university’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Extending the celebration beyond campus the Centre also shared the symbolic planters with CPPGG team (Centre for Public Policy and Good Governance) of the Government of Uttarakhand, thereby strengthening the shared vision of a greener, more sustainable future.
World’s Largest Lesson 2025 – Four Days of Inspiring Young Changemakers. Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), through its SDG Youth Engagement Centre (SDG-YEC) in collaboration with AIESEC in Dehradun, successfully organized the World’s Largest Lesson (WLL) 2025 across four impactful days in prominent schools of Dehradun.
This global flagship initiative of UNICEF and UNESCO aims to educate young minds about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and empower them to become responsible global citizens. The four-day outreach engaged more than 2,400 students through interactive and experiential learning.

Dehradun The initiative commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting, marking the beginning of meaningful engagement.
Over 1,400 students actively participated in the Food Heroes Project (SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption & Production) and the Climate Change Makers Project (SDG 13 – Climate Action).
Through interactive discussions, classroom activities, and collaborative exercises, GEU volunteers encouraged students to reflect on sustainable habits and climate responsibility.
Dehradun Continuing the momentum, 800+ students from Classes III–VIII were engaged through age-appropriate SDG projects.
The Food Heroes Project was conducted for junior classes, while senior students participated in the Climate Change Makers Project. The sessions promoted awareness, critical thinking, and practical understanding of sustainability challenges.
The day concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Jyoti Gupta, Principal, Olympus School.


The third day focused on expanding the reach of the initiative, further strengthening student engagement through SDG-based activities, discussions, and participatory learning modules.
Emphasis was placed on connecting global goals to local actions, encouraging students to identify simple yet impactful changes they could implement in their daily lives to contribute towards sustainability.
Dehradun The concluding day engaged 200+ students through interactive classroom projects and an engaging SDG quiz. The programme began with a welcome address by the organizing team, followed by remarks from Mrs. Shashi Naithani, Principal, and the presence of Mr. S.B. Raturi, Director. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks and presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation.
Conducted under the visionary guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala, Prof. (Dr.) Narpinder Singh, Prof. (Dr.) Durgaprasad Gangodkar, and Dr. Manoj Pant, and effectively coordinated by Dr. Anugrah R.
Lall and Dr. Shweta Khanduri with dedicated student volunteers, WLL 2025 concluded successfully, reinforcing the commitment to building informed, responsible, and sustainability-driven youth for a better tomorrow.

Diwali Fest 2025 – “Light with Purpose” was successfully organized by the SDG Youth Engagement Centre (SDG-YEC), Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), on 15th October 2025 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the CSIT Auditorium.
Celebrated under the theme “Celebrating Diwali with the Spirit of Sustainability,” the event aimed to integrate the cultural essence of Diwali with environmental responsibility and social consciousness.

A distinctive aspect of the fest was its sustainable entry initiative, wherein students and faculty members contributed reusable items such as old clothes, books, bags, shoes, and other essentials as part of a donation drive.
This initiative reflected the core message of the theme, emphasizing conscious celebration and purposeful giving. The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr) S. Saraf through ceremonial lamp lighting, setting an inspiring tone for the celebration.
The auditorium transformed into a vibrant space featuring eco-friendly stalls and creative Diya Decoration and Rangoli Competitions, encouraging the use of natural and recyclable materials. The competitions were judged by Dr. Prabha Lama (HoD, HSS), Prof. Bisht (PE), Dr. Bharti Sharma, Dr. Anjali Sharma, Dr. Yashpal, Dr. Manasvi, and Ms. Rinky, whose presence enriched the event.
The fest was seamlessly coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Anugrah Rohini Lall, Faculty Coordinator and University Coordinator, SDG-YEC, GEU, along with Dr. Sweta Khanduri (HSS) and dedicated student coordinators.
Extending the spirit of “Light with Purpose,” members of SDG-YEC visited Prem Dham Old Age Home on 18th October 2025 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The team engaged in meaningful interactions with the elderly residents and donated fresh fruits, woollen socks, and diyas. Rangoli making and diya lighting activities using natural materials were organized, fostering warmth, compassion, and togetherness.
The outreach was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Anugrah R. Lall, with active coordination by Mr. Saurav Bisht and Mr. Aditya Bahuguna, and support from core team members Bhavya, Srishti, Anuskha, Shorya, Pratibha, and Divya, ensuring a meaningful and impactful celebration.

The SDG–Youth Engagement Centre (SDG-YEC), Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with the Centre for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPPGG), organised a youth consultation titled “Vision to Action: Youth Engagement in Shaping a Viksit Uttarakhand Vision 2047” on 11th November 2025, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moot Court, Old H.M. Block, GEU.
The consultation brought together over 60 students from diverse disciplines to co-create actionable pathways for a sustainable and resilient Uttarakhand. Distinguished resource persons Ms. Sharon Mary Jacob, Mr. Ayush Arya, and Mr. Ravi Bains from CPPGG, Govt. of Uttarakhand highlighted the critical role of youth in governance, innovation, and sustainable development.

The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Santosh S. Saraf, Pro Vice Chancellor, GEU, while Prof. (Dr.) Daisy Alexander, Dean, Faculty of Law, emphasised youth-led policy implementation. Participants proposed solutions across themes such as digital villages, environmental resilience, and accessible healthcare, aligning their ideas with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The programme was coordinated by the SDG-YEC Core Team and Student Coordinators and guided by the vision of Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala, Prof. (Dr.) Narpinder Singh, Prof. (Dr.) Naresh Kumar, Prof. (Dr.) Santosh S. Saraf, and Dr. Anugrah Rohini Lall. The event concluded with renewed commitment toward Viksit Uttarakhand 2047.
The spirit of "Light with Purpose" was carried beyond the university campus as members of the SDG Youth Engagement Centre (SDG-YEC) visited Prem Dham, a local old age home to share the joy of Diwali with its residents The visit was conducted on 18th October, 2025 from 11:30AM to 1:30PM .
The aim of this extension of the event was to embody compassion and social responsibility that lie in the heart of the festival.

During the visit, the SDG-YEC team interacted with many elderly women. Engaging in many meaningful conversations and spending quality time with the residents, the team also donated fresh fruits, woollen socks and Diyas . Rangoli making activities and Diya lighting were also organized using natural and recyclable materials, to infuse a sense of togetherness and festivity .
"Light with Purpose" served as a powerful reminder of the true essence of Diwali. The visit to Prem Dham was beautifully organized under the guidance of Dr. Anugrah R. Lall (SDG-YEC Coordinator), with the active coordination of and Mr. Saurav Bisht and Mr. Aditya Bahuguna (Student Coordinator) , SDG-YEC, GEU), and valuable support from other core team
Bhavya, Srishti, Anuskha, Shorya, Pratibha and Divya . Their collective efforts ensured that the initiative, aligned with the theme “Light with Purpose,” was carried out seamlessly and meaningful. By celebrating Diwali both on campus and at an old age home, SDG-YEC successfully conveyed its message for sustainable and purposeful celebration.
The Diwali Fest 2025 concluded on a radiant and meaningful note, with the spirit of sustainability resonating among all attendees.

The SDG-YEC (GEU) Children’s Day Outreach Programme “Kid’s Delight Day” was organized on 14th November 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Seraphina Trust (NGO).
The initiative by the Sustainable Development Goals–Youth Engagement Centre (SDG-YEC), Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) aimed to celebrate Children’s Day with underprivileged children while promoting empathy, inclusion, and social responsibility among youth volunteers.

SDG-YEC members actively engaged with the children through ice-breaking activities, fun games, and a joyful dance session. The event concluded with the distribution of sweets and goodies, spreading smiles and warmth.
Smooth coordination and enthusiastic participation made the programme a meaningful celebration, reinforcing SDG-YEC’s commitment to nurturing compassionate and socially responsible youth.
