NIRMAAN- A two-day, Capacity Building Program for Faculty members, organized by Human Resource Development Centre, Graphic Era deemed to be University . Needless to say - teachers are Instrumental in ensuring Educational progress; Their role is multifaceted. They provide mentorship, inspire learners, nurture healthy curiosity in learners, create meaningful learning experiences, leverage technology to support learning, devise research learning strategies, mediate and liaison while doing so….so on. Thus, they work as educators, mentors, counselors and proctors too. Therefore to equip our teaching fraternity with required set of skills, refresh their knowledge of respective domain at times, orient them in accordance with the emerging pedagogical challenges in education sector and develop them as a valuable human resource- is really crucial and essential for educational transformation. Keeping this in view HRDC organized this two day capacity building program on 19th & 20 Oct 2024. Inauguration of the event was done by H’ble Vice Chancellor – Prof Narpinder Singh Ji

Day - 1

Day one started with the enlightenining address by Mr Shashi Rajan ji, Excecutive director ONGC avademy, on The topic – proctorial role of a teacher . He un layered various dimensions and aspects related to the proctorial roles. He concluded by reiterating the fact that the need is to find a fine balance between exceesive proctorial tendencies and creative freedom . His session was followed with an interative session with Prof Navneet Arora ji - a professor of Higher administrative grade from IIT roorkee . He domstrated how a class room can be made more engaging. He emphasized on teachers role in mentorship, emotional support, discipline, counseling, conflict resolution, regular communication with parents as a gamut of proctorial role of a teacher he concluded with inspiring words that teaching is not a job but a service, service to nation .

Day - 2

Day 2 took on a very crucial aspect of educational institutions that is administrative cum adjudicatory aspect. Believing in the fact that a code of conduct is essential for an organization to thrive because it helps in ensuring that employees behave in a way that aligns with the organization’s values and expectations. Observance of certain rules and discipline in the discharge of duties either written or unwritten and abiding binding consensual decisions are necessary for smooth and sustainable functioning of any organization. A robust framework and a well structured procedures for enquiry conduction & report writing and more importantly, a team of efficient employees who are well versed with legal and procedural technicalities while dealing with any disciplinary action - is vital . Grievances are inevitable in an organization. They may or may not be justified and usually represent the gap between what the employee expects and gets from the organization. Grievances have to be properly addressed because it lowers the motivation and performance of the employee and affects the work environment. Keeping the importance of grievance redressed and marinating the code of conduct in an organization, Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) of Graphic Era Deemed to be University has organized the second session . Mr Shachi Kant Sharma ji – A certified trainer in HR policies and management and Ex official of ONGC was the Resource Person in the session . Hours long session trained the employees on nature and course of departmental Inquries and report writing . Session was very enaging and very interactive whrein all the queries and doubts of participant faculties were clarified by the resource person . Seesion was closed with a belief that You cannot mandate productivity; you must provide the tools to let people become their best. H’ble Pro Chancellor Dr Rakesh Shrama joined the event online and addreesed the gathering Dean Academics –Dr Gangodkar ji, Prof B S Bisht, Prof VB Singh, Prof Divya Venugopal, Prof Suman Naithani, Prof Girish Lakhera, Prof AS Shukla were among the attendees. Event was organized by HRDC, GEU which is currently being headed by Dr ABhishek Sharma and Dr BHarti Sharma . The core Aim of HRDC is to adopt transformative & innovative approaches in higher education and to upgrade and upskill university human resource, time to time. The Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) organizes comprehensive Faculty Induction Programs (FIP) designed to train, orient, and integrate new faculty into the academic culture, as evidenced by the 2024 program held from November 27 to December 4. These programs focus on pedagogy, research, and institutional policies.

  • Structure: Often structured around the UGC's "Guru Dakshta" framework, focusing on teaching, learning, assessment, and personal-emotional development.
  • Recent Event: A recent program was held from Nov 27 to Dec 4, 2024, featuring expert sessions on navigating the NAAC landscape.

5 Day EDP for Non Teaching Staff 16 March 2026-20 March 2026)

Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) commenced the Five-Day Executive Development Program (EDP) for Non-Teaching Staff – “Samanvay: Coordination with Efficiency – Key to Institutional Excellence” at the Seminar Hall, Chanakya Block. This marked Day 1 of the five-day programme.

Jointly organized by the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) and the Department of Personality Development Program (PDP), the programme aims to strengthen the institutional ecosystem by enhancing coordination, professionalism, leadership abilities, and workplace efficiency among non-teaching staff, including administrative personnel (Finance, Examination and Governance), IT staff, lab assistants, office assistants, admissions and library teams.

The inaugural session began with a welcome address and introduction to the theme by Dr. Bharti Sharma, Deputy Director, HRDC. On the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), shared his vision on the vital role of non-teaching staff in the growth and effective functioning of the university. He emphasized the importance of professionalism, coordination, and continuous career development opportunities for non-teaching staff, which contribute significantly to institutional excellence.

The programme was graced by Shri Neeraj Kumar Sharma, CEM Head HR, ONGC Dehradun, as the Chief Guest, who delivered an insightful session on Integrity and Professionalism, highlighting how coordination supported by integrity and professionalism can take any institution to remarkable heights.

The event was also attended by Dr. Santosh S. Saraf, Pro Vice Chancellor; Dr. Naresh Kumar Sharma, Registrar, GEU; Dr. Sakshi Gupta, Head of Department, PDP; Dr. Abhishek Sharma, Director, HRDC; and Ms. Shweta Bajaj, HR Manager. The session was smoothly conducted by Ms. Medhavi Vishnoi.

The five-day programme focuses on strengthening professional ethics, enhancing resilience and emotional well-being, and empowering non-teaching staff to contribute effectively to institutional excellence while aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 8, and 16.
