


International Forensic Day celebration 2025
The Department of Biosciences celebrate International Forensic Science Day on September, 20, 2025. This event consisted of several competitions and demonstrations which aimed to familiarize students with the real-world applications of forensic science and to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation through demonstrations and exhibitions garnering participation from students from various departments and universities.
The event commenced with the welcoming of dignitaries, followed by the Saraswati Vandana, marking a traditional invocation for wisdom and knowledge. This was followed by the Welcome Address delivered by the Head of the Department, Prof. (Dr.) Manu Pant, who highlighted the importance of forensic sciences in modern criminal investigations and academic learning. Dr. Pant also thanked the faculty and student volunteers for organising the event.
The Guest of Honor, Prof. (Dr.) Daisy Alexander, Dean, Faculty of Law, GEU, addressed the gathering and shared insights on the interdisciplinary relevance of forensic science, particularly its role in the legal system.

The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Santosh S. Saraf, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean Academics, GEU, delivered an enlightening address emphasizing academic innovation, skill development, and experiential learning in forensic education.

One of the key highlights of the event was the official launch of the Forensics Club, “The FAB (Forensic Analysis Bureau)” of the Department of Biosciences, aimed at encouraging student engagement, research, and practical exposure in the forensic domain.This was followed by the felicitation of the guests with mementos, acknowledging their valuable presence and contributions.Mrs. Kiran Bisht delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, organizers, and participants.
The guests and participants further proceeded towards the exhibition, where interactive displays and demonstrations were showcased. The exhibitions varied from fingerprint development, ballistics display, currency and passport features and different chemical tests. Parallel to the exhibition, various student competitions were conducted, including crime scene modulation, poster presentation, model presentation, and prosthetic makeup (Master of Disguise), encouraging creativity, analytical thinking, and practical application of forensic concepts. The event concluded with the valedictory ceremony and prize distribution, celebrating student participation and recognizing outstanding performances. Overall, the event successfully provided an enriching learning experience and fostered enthusiasm for forensic science among students.
