A faculty development workshop titled “Faculty as First Responders: Supporting Student’s Mental Well-being” was held on June 09, 2025, conducted by Dr. Himanshi Sharma, Assistant Professor and Counselling Psychologist at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University). The workshop aimed to enhance faculty members’ psychological competence by equipping them with the skills to identify and respond to students' mental health concerns.

Dr. Sharma emphasized the importance of mental well-being for both students and educators, highlighting generational shifts affecting student behavior, emotional expression, and learning patterns. The key issues addressed included academic stress, identity struggles, and digital fatigue. These issues were addressed through interactive case vignettes, engaging faculties in meaningful discussions, strategy sharing, and real-life scenario analysis, enhancing the capacity for empathetic and effective intervention. The session also encouraged self-reflection on personal well-being and reinforced the dual role of faculty as academic mentors and emotional support systems. The workshop was well received and served as a valuable platform for capacity building and awareness.
