About The Program

The seamless integration of human and artificial cognition leveraged through Emerging Technologies is the core of our practice. This dynamic, transdisciplinary method builds a foundation for leading innovation in user-environment-centered problem-solving and creative product and spatial development.

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Product and Interior Design is a comprehensive undergraduate program that cultivates innovative, ethical, technically informed, and user-centered designers. It brings together the design of objects, furniture, fixtures, interiors, and spatial experiences so that learners can address the complete relationship between people, products, and the built environment.

The curriculum develops scientific inquiry, design research, material intelligence, ergonomics, manufacturing awareness, building systems knowledge, digital modeling, prototyping, and experience-led spatial thinking. Students progress from visualisation, design fundamentals, systems thinking, and materials to advanced product development, furniture and interior systems, sustainable design, smart and connected environments, and strategic practice.

The first three years establish an integrated disciplinary foundation and conclude with an Industrial Internship in Semester 6. The Honours year deepens inclusive product design, CMFTT strategy, branding and wayfinding, hospitality and workplace design, strategic design, and entrepreneurship before culminating in a Graduation Project and Design Colloquium.

Graduates are prepared to create products and environments as interconnected systems: functionally appropriate, emotionally meaningful, accessible, sustainable, technologically responsive, and viable within contemporary manufacturing, construction, service, and business contexts.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

  • Academic Qualification : To be eligible for the B.Sc. (Hons.) Graphic and Interaction Design program, a candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination.
  • Entrance Exam : Candidate admission may be based on Graphic Era's entrance test or a personal interview, unless the candidate has a valid score from a national-level entrance examination such as UCEED / NID-DAT / NIFT Entrance Exam.

(Hons.) in Product and Interior Design program follows a design pedagogy aimed at empowering future designers by integrating enhanced human intelligence (HI) for creative problem-solving with an AI-assisted holistic curriculum that cultivates intelligence, capacity, skills, tools, methods, techniques, and crucial additional factors in a developmental sequence, fostering well-rounded creative minds.

Specializations

Stream: B.Sc. (Hons.) Product and Interior Design

Product and Interior Design focuses on the connected continuum of things and spaces: the products people use, the furniture and fixtures that support activity, and the interior environments that shape behavior, comfort, identity, and experience. The specialization develops designers who can move confidently across object, human, and spatial scales.

The product design dimension develops form, function, ergonomics, product aesthetics, engineering awareness, materials, manufacturing feasibility, CAD, prototyping, user testing, sustainable product systems, and smart connected products. The interior and spatial experience dimension develops site and user analysis, space planning, architectural graphics, building systems, interior materials and finishes, furniture, lighting, acoustics, accessibility, sustainable spaces, and branded environmental experiences.

Integrated studios ask students to resolve products and interiors as coherent experience ecosystems. Learners investigate how an assistive device fits a healthcare environment, how furniture influences workplace behavior, how retail products and displays communicate a brand, how materials and finishes create sensory continuity, and how smart products interact with responsive spaces.

The curriculum combines evidence-based design research with iterative making and evaluation. Physical models, digital prototypes, CAD/BIM workflows, immersive visualization, material exploration, and industry engagement enable students to develop solutions that are usable, buildable, inclusive, sustainable, culturally responsive, and strategically viable.
