


Assistant Professor Mechanical Engineering
Dr. Rohit Khargotra is an Assistant Professor at Graphic Era University, in the department of mechanical engineering, specializing in thermal engineering, renewable-energy systems, solar thermal technologies, thermal energy storage, phase change materials, photovoltaic–thermal systems, heat-transfer enhancement, and sustainable engineering design. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Kurukshetra University in 2014 and his Master of Engineering from the University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kurukshetra University, in 2017.
Before joining Graphic Era University, he completed a two-year postdoctoral research appointment at the Escuela Politécnica Superior, Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, Madrid, Spain, from September 2024 to June 2026. His postdoctoral research focused on advanced phase change materials and their integration into solar thermal energy-storage systems under the Spanish government-funded NEWSAFE project. He previously served as a Research Associate at the Sustainability Solutions Research Laboratory, University of Pannonia, Hungary, contributing to renewable-energy systems, sustainable materials, and energy-efficient thermal technologies.
Dr. Khargotra has contributed to major international projects, including the EU-funded STOREMORE project and the NEWSAFE project. He also served as Principal Investigator of the €10,000-funded project, Enhancement of Food Sustainability Using a Photovoltaic–Thermal Solar Dryer, aimed at integrating thermal-energy storage with solar drying for sustainable food preservation. His wider project portfolio includes bioinspired aerogels, phase change material encapsulation, thermal harvesting, and sustainable solar-energy materials.
He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, including over 45 SCI-indexed papers, 50 Scopus-indexed papers, nine conference papers, and three book chapters, with more than 30 articles published in Q1 journals. His research has achieved an h-index of 25 and over 2,000 citations. His international accomplishments include delivering a keynote lecture at Kyushu University, Japan, serving as a conference session chair in Thailand, and contributing to scientific collaborations across India, Hungary, Spain, Saudi Arabia, China, and Japan. His work is dedicated to developing practical, energy-efficient, and environmentally sustainable technologies.
