The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences organized an educational trip to Sainji Village, Tehri Garhwal, on 17th April 2025, titled “Sainji Visit: A Socio-Psycho Engagement with Rural India.” This multidisciplinary initiative aimed to provide students from Psychology, English, Economics, Sociology, and the BA Program with an immersive experience in rural life through experiential learning. Students engaged with the local community, participated in discussions, and observed everyday practices, gaining insights into socio-cultural structures, mental health awareness, and gender roles.
The visit emphasized culturally sensitive approaches to mental health and allowed students to critically apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts. The students of the psychology program explored emotional resilience, while sociology, economics and BA program students studied community-based economies and informal governance. The students from the English program collected oral narratives and folk stories. The visit enhanced students’ socio-cultural awareness, empathy, communication skills, and interdisciplinary thinking, offering a transformative learning experience that fostered critical inquiry and meaningful community engagement.
