Professor Chemistry
Dr. Arunima Nayak is an active researcher since the past 13 years in the broad area of Environmental Science and Technology and especially in the field of waste management, biorefinery of wastes and materials development for water treatment. Her total research publication is more than 100 in high impact journals of international repute; with a patent published record crossing 10. Her research impact is evident from an impressive h-index of 35 with her total citations crossing 14,000 in the area of Environmental Science and Technology. She is one of the top 2% most influential scientists as declared by Stanford University for consecutive 5 years 2021-2025. She has been instrumental in guiding more than 8 research scholars till date.
Her teaching exposure expands for a total of 13 years in the broad areas of Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Engineering Chemistry since her joining Graphic Era in the year 2012. She has been instrumental in start of M.Sc Chemistry program in Chemistry Department of Graphic Era University. She is currently Professor of Department of Chemistry, Graphic Era University.
Her academic basis is in Chemistry with a PhD from IIT Roorkee in the year 2012. She was awarded the prestigious Marie Curie Incoming Fellow from the European Union in the year 2015 for undertaking post-doctoral work. The post doc fellowship enabled her to work under a 2-year funded “VALOWASTE” project with a focus in reducing the environmental impact of wine industries. The project helped her to develop novel techniques and concepts on valorization of wastes generated from the agro food sector at a high-quality applied research facility and within a collaboration network of top-level EU research facilities. The new concept of zero-waste and sustainable bio-based economy which was the basis of the project is expected to mature progressively in the coming decades.
In her industrial exposure years (1998-2009) at Alloy Steels Plant, SAIL, Durgapur Dr. Nayak was instrumental in quality upgradation of stainless-steel products for which she was awarded certificate of Appreciation in recognition of the suggestion to implement and execute a software programme for faster generation of daily/monthly/quarterly/yearly product quality flash report under the Creativity Award Scheme (15.8.2008), Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of the suggestion on improving the yield of WAP 287 Rcs under the Creativity Award Scheme (1.9.2007), Certificate of merit in recognition of outstanding contribution to plant’s performance under the Nehru Award Scheme in 26.01.2000, Certificate of Honor in recognition of valuable services in the field of Metallurgy for the year 1998 for contribution in developing models towards yield improvement in Ball-Bearing and Boron Bearing steels by about 3-5% (3.4.1999).
