Dr. Bhawana is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun, where she has been serving since 2008. She earned her Ph.D. in 2006 from the Forest Research Institute (Deemed) University, Dehradun, with a specialization in Cellulose Chemistry. She has extensive teaching and research experience in Cellulose Chemistry, Pulp and Paper Chemistry, and Carbohydrate Chemistry, and has published several research papers in reputed national and international journals, conference proceedings, book chapters, and patents. She has actively participated in numerous Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), national and international conferences, and workshops, and has successfully guided two Ph.D.Scholars. Dr. Bhawana has received several Research Excellence and Outstanding Researcher Awards from Graphic Era University. She has worked on a Word Bank project at FRI and on CSIR-sponsored projects, including the NMITLI programme in collaboration with NCL, Pune, at CPPRI, Saharanpur. Her research mainly focuses on developing biodegradable plastics from bagasse, as well as industry-supported work on the extraction, purification, and production of high-purity alpha cellulose from agricultural and forest biomass.
