Dr. Devvret Verma

Assistant Professor Biotechnology

Dr. Devvret Verma is a distinguished academician and researcher specializing in biotechnology, bioinformatics, and computational drug discovery. His research primarily focuses on applying in-silico and bioinformatics approaches to understand host–pathogen interactions, identify therapeutic targets, and accelerate drug discovery. A key contribution of his work is the development of the Mtb-HID database, which consolidates host–Mycobacterium tuberculosis interaction data across multiple strains, providing valuable insights into tuberculosis pathogenesis and potential interventions.

He has also made notable contributions to drug discovery and repurposing, particularly through computational screening and ADMET analysis of phytochemicals from Indian medicinal plants, as well as studies targeting SARS-CoV-2 during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to infectious diseases, his research spans diverse areas including molecular docking, homology modelling, neural network-based disease detection, and epidemiological associations such as tobacco smoking and liver cancer. Overall, Dr. Verma’s work reflects a strong commitment to leveraging computational biology to address challenges in human health, infectious diseases, and beyond.
