Dr. Jigisha Anand She is a dedicated biotechnologist and academician with a strong interdisciplinary research profile
encompassing microbial biotechnology, natural product based therapeutics, sustainable agriculture, and translational
research. She obtained her PhD in Biotechnology from Graphic Era Deemed to be University in 2015. Her doctoral research,
which investigated the anticandidal efficacy of green tea catechins, culminated in the development of a patented
antifungal formulation (Indian Patent No. 386121). This work demonstrated inhibition of key enzymes involved in
ergosterol biosynthesis in Candida species, highlighting its strong translational and applied research relevance.
Her research has further led to several notable milestones, including the development of nano catechin based
formulations for the management of wound associated pathogens and enhancement of wound healing, the formulation of
antibacterial nano emulsions against clinically relevant human pathogens, the development of organic manure from tea
waste to promote sustainable agricultural practices, and drug repurposing studies aimed at identifying existing
pharmaceuticals with antibacterial potential.
She served as a Research Associate in the Department of Biotechnology at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) in 2017 and joined the
faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2018. She has qualified the Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test accredited by the
University Grants Commission and has established a distinguished academic record, with one granted Indian patent, seven
national patent publications, forty peer reviewed research articles, seven book chapters, and one edited book.
Dr. Anand is currently serving as Principal Investigator of a research project funded by the G. B. Pant National
Institute of Himalayan Environment under the IERP scheme of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, with
a total sanctioned grant of Rs. 11.20 lakhs. She has also successfully completed an institutionally funded research
project as Principal Investigator. Her academic excellence has been recognized through several national level awards,
including the Senior Teacher Award, ESDA Young Scientist Award, IPR Excellence Award, and Scientific Excellence Award,
conferred by government and non government organizations.
With over nine years of teaching experience, she teaches courses in microbiology, immunology, virology, and microbial
technology. She actively supervises undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral research, with current research themes
focused on tea quality biomarkers, antimicrobial nanoparticles, wound healing applications, and sustainable
agrobiotechnology solutions.
