Dr. Kapil Kumar Sharma is currently serving as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun, India, where he has been playing a pivotal role in academic leadership, curriculum development, research promotion, and faculty mentoring. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, one of India’s premier technical institutions, which laid a strong foundation for his research-oriented career.

With more than 17 years of rich teaching, research, and administrative experience, Dr. Sharma has significantly contributed to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral education. His core research interests lie in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and experimental investigations, particularly in the area of continuous casting processes, where he has worked on flow behavior, heat transfer, and process optimization. In addition, his expertise extends to polymer and composite materials, focusing on their mechanical behavior, processing, and industrial applications.

Dr. Sharma has authored and reviewed numerous research publications in reputed international journals, guided doctoral and postgraduate scholars, and actively contributed to funded research projects and accreditation activities. His commitment to academic excellence, interdisciplinary research, and industry-relevant innovation continues to strengthen the teaching–learning and research ecosystem of the department.
