Professor Aerospace Engineering
Dr. Pushpendra Kumar is a Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun. He earned his Ph.D. in Dynamics and Control from the University of Lille, France, supported by the European project WEASTFLOWS. He holds an M. Tech. in CAD/CAM and Robotics from IIT Roorkee and a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from U.P. Technical University, India. His doctoral research focused on system-of-systems (SoS) engineering and its applications in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), where he also contributed key deliverables to the WEASTFLOWS project on ICT tools for sustainable logistics in Europe. Dr. Kumar has two years of postdoctoral research experience at the CNRS Laboratory CRIStAL, France, funded by two national French research projects in the area of mobile robotics.
With more than 12 years of teaching and research experience, Dr. Kumar has also taught postgraduate courses in the International Master in Robotics and Transportation (MRT) program at Polytech Lille, France. He has supervised two Ph.D. thesis and numerous undergraduate and postgraduate projects. He serves as a reviewer for several high-impact journals, including IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Access, Scientific Reports, Journal of the Franklin Institute, Cell Reports Physical Science, and Journal of Systems and Control Engineering, as well as prestigious IEEE conferences such as CoDIT, ECC, ROBIO, SoSE, etc.
Dr. Kumar has also been a visiting researcher at the University of Lille. He has delivered invited talks at the University of Yaoundé (Cameroon), Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (Mexico), and NIT Jamshedpur. He has travelled to many countries for academic and professional engagements, including visits to France, Germany, England, Belgium, South Africa, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Luxembourg, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Malaysia. He has authored more than 50 research papers in international journals and conferences, including IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, and IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, etc. His research interests include soft robotics, dynamic modeling, simulation, control, and fault diagnosis of complex multi-domain physical systems, with applications in robotics, transportation, and mechatronic systems.
