Dr. Ravi Yadav is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering and Earth Sciences, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun. He obtained his Ph.D. in Paleontology from the Department of Earth Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. His research interests lie in the microbiota from Deccan intertrappean deposits in the central and western Peninsular India. He is particularly interested in the areas of invertebrate (foraminifers and ostracods) and vertebrate (lizards, fishes, frogs) fossils, and the intercontinental biogeographic relations of the Indian subcontinent with surrounding landmasses around the Cretaceous-Paleocene (K-Pg) time. He discovered a new lizard species, Deccansaurus palaeoindicus, from the Kesavi intertrappean deposits in Madhya Pradesh.
