Dr. Shailja Thakur is a distinguished academician and legal scholar in the field of Law, with expertise in Criminal Law, Criminology, Human Rights, Cyber Law, and Emerging Technologies. She holds a Ph.D. in Law from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, along with LL.M. (Gold Medal), LL.B., and B.A. degrees from the Himachal Pradesh University Shimla.

Currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the College of Law at Graphic Era Deemed to be University, Dehradun, Dr. Thakur is actively engaged in teaching, research, curriculum development, and student mentoring. With several years of experience in legal education, she has taught a wide range of subjects including Criminal Law, Criminology, Constitutional Law, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023; Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 , Civil Procedure, and Human Rights Law. Her commitment to academic excellence and student-centered learning has earned her recognition as a dedicated educator and mentor. She has published numerous research papers in reputed national and international journals and has presented her work at various conferences and seminars. Her notable research contributions include studies on punishment theories, police brutality, juvenile delinquency, correctional institutions, corporate governance, and the application of artificial intelligence in legal systems. She is also the author of four books covering diverse areas of law and public policy.

• A recipient of the prestigious Gold Medal awarded by the Hon’ble President of India for securing the first position in the LL.M. programme, Dr. Thakur continues to contribute significantly to legal education, research, and policy discourse. She regularly participates in Faculty Development Programmes, workshops, and international certification courses in the areas of Criminal Law, Artificial Intelligence, Intellectual Property Rights, International Criminal Law, Privacy Law, and Legal Research Methodology, Technology Regulation and Governance.
