Dr. Sunil Kumar pursued his Ph.D. from Department of Medical Microbiology, PGIMER (Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research), Chandigarh. He joined the Department of Microbiology, Graphic Era Deemed to be University as Associate Professor (Research) in September, 2023. Dr. Kumar has over 16 years of research & teaching experience in the area of Molecular Biology and Microbiology. He has worked as a faculty member for seven years and has taught different courses to BMS, MD, Ph.D., M.Sc., B.Sc., & B.Tech students at various National & international organizations. He has worked as Associate Professor of Microbiology at Kampala International University Teaching Hospital, Uganda from July, 2022 to Sept, 2023. He has also worked as Assistant Professor at Department of Biotechnology, MM Deemed to be University, Mullana (Ambala), Haryana for four years. In December 2025, He received ‘Institutional Seed Grant’ for executing research work on Streptococcus pyogenes. Dr. Kumar has worked as Postdoc Researcher at University of Kwazulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa. Dr. Kumar has worked in various research projects funded by World Bank, ICMR, DBT, WELCOME TRUST and CDC-USA in different capacities of SRF, Research Associate & Research Officer. He has qualified PGIMER NET. He has published more than 100 research papers in various National & International journals indexed in SCI, SCOPUS, WoS & NAAS. His research interests include Antimicrobial Resistance, Molecular Typing of pathogenic bacteria, Gene Expression of efflux pumps. Dr. Kumar has received three International Awards for presenting his research work at different conferences held in Europe, UK and USA.
