Executive Body

To review and oversee the progress of the Centre an Executive Body has been constituted with composition as follows;

• Dr. Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun.
• Dr. N K Sharma, Registrar, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun.
• Director General/DDG, NISE, Gurugram
• Two Experts from IIT

• Dr. B S Negi, Director, Centre of Energy Research, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun.

Major SDG Initiatives Taken

• Signed an MoU between GEU, Dehradun, and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, for cooperation in research and energy in 2023.
• Signed an MoU between GEU, Dehradun, and National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Gurugram, in 2024 for collaboration in research, training including jointly conducting academic program such as M.Tech in renewable energy, for promotion of renewable energy (SDG7, SDG8, SDG9).
• Organized a National Workshop on Policy Interventions for Promoting Solar Farming for Socio-Economic Development and for Net Zero Emission Mission in association with NISE and National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI), New Delhi, from 30 September-4October 2024. The event was addressed by key policymakers from centre/state governments, experts from key R&D/academic institutions, industry, industry associations, etc. on the various topics in the clean energy field. The participants included students, researchers, faculty, industry, etc.
• As follow-up to the above national workshop, developed an innovative RD&D Project on “Development and Demonstration of Solar Powered Underground Cold Storage System for Sustainable Agriculture Development” in association with ICAR-IARI, New Delhi. The project proposal with budget of Rs.2.0 crore was submitted to NISE, MNRE in September 2025 in response to a call for funding under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (SDG2, SDG7, SDG8, SDG9, SDG13). The proposal is in the process of evaluation by NISE, Gurugram.
• A design patent on “Casing for Soil Temperature Sensor” as part of the above project is registered with Patent Office with design no.459067-001 on 15/05/2025.
• Delivered a talk on “Integrated Approach for Promotion of Solar Energy for Sustainable Development of Mountainous Regions of Uttarakhand” at a conference held at HNBGU, Srinagar in March 2024, by Dr B S Negi, Director, CER, GEU, Dehradun. The paper on the said title is under print in Journal of Mountain Research for publication. This paper has outlined a policy for promotion of solar power to make Uttarakhand carbon neutral (SDG2, 78).
• Organized a “National Conference on Development of Clean Energy Technologies for Net - Zero Emissions” in association with Centre for Sustainable Energy, IIT Roorkee, and NISE, Gurugram, from 15 to 17 January 2026 at GEU campus. The conference was supported by ANRF, Government of India (SDG2, SDG7, SDG8, SDG13). The event was addressed by key policymakers from centre/state governments, experts from key R&D/academic institutions, industry, industry associations, etc. on the various topics in the clean energy field. The participants included students, researchers, faculty, industry, etc.
• As follow up to the above national conference, GIS based solar resource mapping for Uttarakhand has been initiated in association with NISE, Gurugram, with an objective to take up a collaborative R&D Project on Solar Resource Assessment for Solar Power Potential Assessment in Uttarakhand to make the state carbon-neutral (SDG2, SDG 7, SDG8).
• CER has taken up an exercise for making the entire campus of GEU carbon neutral (SDG7).
• CER is being strengthened with new faculty for promoting research in solar cells, energy storage and green hydrogen (SDG2,7,8,9,13).
• Action is underway for setting up a lab and for collaborative research projects and for possible academic programmes in future.
