Youth Parliament Society

The Youth Parliament Society (YPS), the central society of the Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), was founded by Mr. Shubhraj Choudhary and Mr. Mohd. Arshil under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Prabha Lama. Supported by faculty coordinators—Dr. Bharti Sharma, Dr. Gaurav Dimri, Dr. Ankita Jakhmola, and Dr. Rajkumar Singh. The society operates across Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) and Graphic Era Hill University campuses.

YPS aims to foster political awareness, leadership, and critical thinking among students through National Youth Parliaments, Model United Nations, and policy discussions. It has earned recognition for organizing events like Lokneeti 2024 and achievements in national platforms.

YOUTH PARLIAMENT Date: 25th - 26th November, 2024 The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, in collaboration with Youth Parliament Society (YPS), NSS, and DebSoc, successfully hosted Lokniti 2024, a Youth Parliament, on 25th and 26th November 2024. The event was a vibrant platform for spirited discussions and innovative solutions to some of the most pressing socio-political challenges of our times. Lokniti 2024 featured multiple committees, each addressing critical agendas

  • Rajya Sabha deliberated on strengthening women’s rights and addressing gender inequality in India. • Lok Sabha debated the implementation and implications of a nationwide caste census.
  • AIPPM analyzed the policies and governance of the NDA Government.
  • The Bharat Press encapsulated the dynamic atmosphere through journalism and photography. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from delegates representing diverse educational backgrounds, showcasing analytical thinking, leadership skills, and innovative solutions during the debates. With a prize pool of ₹58,000, the event celebrated the dedication and excellence of participants. Winners were awarded elegantly designed trophies, along with certificates of merit and participation. Adding to the event’s vibrant spirit, a lively jamming session was organized, leaving participants with unforgettable memories. The success of Lokniti 2024 was made possible by the tireless efforts of the organizing committee, led by the esteemed Head of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. (Dr.) Prabha Lama, along with faculty convenors Dr. Bharti Sharma and Dr. Gaurav Dimri. Special recognition goes to Shubhraj Choudhary, Founder and President of the Youth Parliament Society, whose vision and leadership inspired the team and participants alike. Lokvidhan 2025

YOUTH PARLIAMENT Date: 7th - 8th March 2025 The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, in collaboration with Youth Parliament Society (YPS), NSS, and Debating Society GEU, successfully organized Lokvidhan 2025, a Youth Parliament/MUN event, on the occasion of 7th and 8th March 2025. The event served as a powerful platform for thought provoking discussions, legal simulations, and innovative solutions to contemporary socio-political challenges. Lokvidhan 2025 featured various committees, each addressing critical agendas:

  • AIPPM: Focused on the current status of Women’s Budgeting and the criminalization of marital rape in India. With over 150 delegates participating, this committee set a record for the highest delegation in a single MUN committee in Dehradun.
  • IOC: Deliberated on the discrimination faced by female athletes worldwide, striving to bring attention to gender inequality in sports.
  • PRESS: Captured the essence of the event through journalism, photography, and caricatures, providing detailed coverage of the proceedings and debates. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 250 delegates, representing diverse educational institutions and showcasing their analytical skills, leadership qualities, and commitment to fostering change through debate and dialogue. In Celebration of Women's Day: Lokvidhan 2025 was dedicated to the cause of women’s rights, not just through symbolic gestures but through practical, action-oriented discussions. On the occasion of Women’s Day, the event emphasized the importance of moving beyond words and candle marches. By simulating legal proceedings at the student level, Lokvidhan aimed to raise awareness about the necessity for genuine action and empowerment, ensuring that future leaders are well-versed in the mechanisms of lawmaking and advocacy. Inclusive Participation & Accessibility: What made Lokvidhan 2025 truly remarkable was its effort to broaden access to the MUN experience. Unlike most MUNs, which charge a minimum fee of ₹800-₹1200, Lokvidhan 2025 maintained a minimal participation fee of just ₹200 while offering a generous prize pool of ₹47,000. The event provided awards for the top seven rank holders, reflecting its commitment to making the platform more inclusive and educational. Acknowledgments: The organizing committee was led by the esteemed Head of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. (Dr.) Prabha Lama, along with faculty convenors Dr. Bharti Sharma, Dr. Gaurav Dimri, Dr. Rajkumar Singh and Mrs. Ankita Jakhmola. The success of Lokvidhan 2025 underlined the dedication of its organizers to promote legal literacy, civic engagement, and social awareness among the youth. The event’s low-cost model, high participation, and emphasis on actionable change made it a truly impactful and memorable experience. We look forward to witnessing the ripple effect of this initiative as it continues to inspire students to become responsible citizens, capable leaders, and advocates for justice.

Voxdominus MLZS MUN

A two day National Youth Parliament and Model United Nations conference, successfully organized at Mount Litera Zee School, Dehradun on August 18-19th 2025. The event was powered by Youth Parliament Society Graphic Era Group Of Institutions and witnessed enthusiastic participation of young minds across various schools. Mr Manish Tyagi, Deputy Secretary (Head CEO) at the Central Board of Secondary Education, graced the conference as Chief Guest and addressed the delegates importance of dialogue and diplomacy. Society played a pivotal role by conducting orientation sessions, team building, management, also handeled event planning and execution, Mr. Mohammad Arshil, President of Youth Parliament Society, served as Chief Advisor, ensuring the smooth and impactful deliberation of the event.

Graphic Era National Youth Conclave (GENYC) 2025

Organized by the Youth Parliament Society of Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), was a two-day celebration of intellect, leadership, and youth dialogue. The conclave witnessed an impressive participation of over 350 delegates from more than 45 universities across India, creating a vibrant platform for young minds to deliberate on issues of national and global importance.

Day 1 began with the grand Inaugural Ceremony, graced by the Chief Guest, Ms. Sakshi Singh, along with the Pro Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Registrar, Pro Vice Chancellor, Chairperson, and Faculty Coordinators. The ceremony set an inspiring tone for the event, underscoring the power of youth-led discussions in shaping a progressive future. The committee sessions then commenced across five forums — AIPPM (All India Political Parties Meet), Lok Sabha, FIEC (Forum for International Economic Cooperation), ICSW (International Commission on the Status of Women), and the Press Committee. Delegates engaged in rigorous debates and policy discussions, reflecting remarkable research, articulation, and leadership skills.

Day 2 carried forward the same enthusiasm, with delegates drafting resolutions and engaging in final sessions of deliberation. The day culminated with the Award and Valedictory Ceremony, graced by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Narpinder Singh as the Chief Guest, who applauded the best performing delegates and committees for their exceptional performances. Following this, the Closing Ceremony was held in the esteemed presence of Chief Proctor Dr. A. S. Shukla, who commended the efforts of the participants, organizers, and faculty mentors.

GENYC 2025 concluded on a note of pride and inspiration, celebrating the spirit of youth leadership, intellectual collaboration, and meaningful dialogue - a true testament to the vision and vitality of the leaders of tomorrow.

Major Highlights

  • Abhigyan - a visit to Parliament of India The Youth Parliament Society of Graphic Era deemed to be University,Dehradun in association with the Department of Humanities and Social Scienc es, visited the Parliament of India on 6 Feb 2026 .The students attended the lok sabha for Budget Session, witnessing the core essence of budget analysis. The students also explored the historic Old Parliament Building, The central Hall of parliament & Parliament Library soaking in the essence of our nation's legislative and cultural legacy. The trip was guided by the Faculty coordinator of Youth Parliament Society - Dr Bharti Sharma and Faculty from HSS, Mr Naveen Naval along with research scholar - Mr Nazrullah Siddiqui & President YPS- Mohd Arshil. This trip involved the students across the disciplines ( BCom, Mangemnt, BTech, BSc) . YPS, GEU is grateful to Honourable Member of Parliament Mr Imran Masood and his team for helping in arranging the entries and passes to budget session as, well as historic - Parliament library. The day ended on a reflective note with visits to the iconic India Gate and the solemn National War Memorial, honouring our heroes while celebrating the spirit of India.
