


The Intra-University Psychology Club Shan-Manah, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, organized a two-day event titled “Udaan: Wings of Well-Being” on 9th–10th October 2025 to observe World Mental Health Day, to promote mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and encouraging student well- being.
Day - 1 The programme was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr) Narpinder Singh, in the presence of senior university officials and faculty members. The event was coordinated under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Dr Prabha Lama, and Faculty Coordinator Ms Vidhi Kapruwan, who played an active role in planning, execution, and student engagement. Key activities included a Mental Health Awareness Rally in collaboration with NSS, a Nukkad Natak addressing stigma around therapy, creative competitions (poster-making, photography, videography, rangoli, and memes), and the open-sharing session “Dil Dastaan: Har Kahani Zaruri Hai.” Approximately 250 students participated.
Day -2 The second day featured expert lectures by Dr Sudip Azad (Consultant Psychiatrist, GEIMS) and Dr Deepika Chamoli Shahi (Founder & Director, Speaking Cube). The sessions focused on humanitarian mental health, resilience, trauma healing, and coping strategies. An award ceremony was conducted to recognize the winners of the creative competitions. Around 80 students attended the sessions
Outcome The event strengthened mental health awareness, encouraged emotional expression and help- seeking behavior, and contributed to creating a psychologically supportive campus environment.
