The Department of Microbiology at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) is a dynamic and innovative academic unit committed to advancing knowledge and research in the field of microbiology.
We offer B.Sc. (Hons.) Microbiology, M.Sc. Microbiology, and Ph.D. Microbiology programs, meticulously designed to provide students with a comprehensive education that blends theoretical expertise with hands-on practical experience.

Our department fosters an interdisciplinary learning environment, ensuring students gain insights from multiple scientific domains. The curriculum integrates microbiology with cutting-edge technological advancements, equipping graduates to meet the evolving demands of industry and research sectors. With a strong emphasis on hands-on training and research-oriented learning, we empower students to develop critical problem-solving skills. Our state-of-the-art laboratories and modern research facilities provide a platform for experimental studies and industry-driven projects. Additionally, we encourage active participation in research collaborations, internships, and workshops, enhancing students’ professional competence and career readiness.
Through a holistic and future-focused approach to education, the Department of Microbiology ensures that students not only gain in-depth knowledge but also develop the analytical and technical skills essential for success in academia, industry, and research-driven professions.
The Department has made strong research focussed collaborations with industry Mankind Agritech and research institutes like ITSON Mexico, and Institute of Genetics and Plant Experimental Biology, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. These partnerships aim to promote joint research, knowledge exchange, and innovation in microbiology, genetics, and plant experimental biology.
The Microbios Club of the Department organized two impactful events this year. The Club celebrated “International Microorganism Day” with an Educational Visit and Lecture Series for B.Sc. and M.Sc. students at GEIMS. The session offered insightful learning on the role of microorganisms in health, environment, and science.
The Department of Microbiology successfully hosted a three-day National Conference titled “Challenges in Microbiology (CIM-2025)” from May 8–10, 2025. The event focused on fostering sustainability in microbial research and was organized with support from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, and Graphic Era (Deemed to be) University (GEU).
The Department has organized Seminars, guest lectures, workshops focussing on mental health, Indian knowledge and environment.
Faculty publications in high-impact journals, and emphasis on innovation/patents in microbial tech, biocontrol, and bioremediation.
