


Graphic Era University (GEU) organized a five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Research in Social Sciences- Methodologies, Perspectives, and Innovations, entitled Samvardhan, specifically from March 21-25, 2025. The FDP focused on methodologies, perspectives, and innovations in social science research, held at the Seminar/Conference Hall, Chanakya Block, GEU.
The program was a collaboration between GEU's HRDC, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), and Lokniti – CSDS (Centre for the Study of Developing Societies), New Delhi. FDPs aim to improve participants' analytical and research skills, enabling them to address complex problems in various fields like economics, finance, Political studies and other disciplines of social sciences. Participants learned about different research approaches, including qualitative and quantitative methods, and how to apply them appropriately. Sessions included hands-on training in statistical software and techniques, such as SPSS, to analyze data and draw valid conclusions. This FDP successfully informed the participants about the latest advancements in research, including the use of big data, AI, and other technologies in social sciences.
Ten sessions spread across five days were guided by Prof Sanjay Kumar , Director, Lokniti, CSDS, New Delhi, Dr Annil Kumar Verma , Director , Centre for Study of Society and Politics , Kanpur ,Prof Rajiv S Rana , Research Officer (Directorate of Budget & Planning), Govt. of Uttarakhand. columnist in National & Regional newspapers, Dr Verghese K .Centre for the Study of Regional Development , School of Social Sciences , JNU, New Delhi , Prof Dr Pampa MUkherjee, HOD, Deptt of Political Science, Panjab University , Chandigarh, DR Vibha Atri , Data analyst and Statistician at CSDS, New Delhi , DR Jyoti , Data Analyst and Expert in Quantitative tools, Dr Aniket Alam , a well renowned Researcher on western Himalayas and mountain societies , Associate Professor , Internatinal Institute of Informational Technology Hyderabad . The presence of H’ble VC, GEU and HOD, HSS, and GEU added value to the program. Dr Bharti Sharma, Deputy Director, HRDC GEU coordinated the entire program. Seventy participants from ten different universities/ colleges participated in this program, conducted in hybrid mode.
