The department currently offers M.Sc. Chemistry and Ph.D. Chemistry programmes. The M.Sc. Chemistry programme provides advanced training in core areas of organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry, with specializations in Organic Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry, and a strong focus on spectroscopy, analytical techniques, and research-based dissertation work.
The Ph.D. Chemistry programme is research-intensive and designed to develop independent researchers capable of addressing complex scientific and societal challenges. Doctoral research spans diverse areas such as organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry, nanomaterials, environmental and green chemistry, biofuels, polymers, natural products, catalysis, and sensing, supported by national and international collaborations.

The department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and advanced analytical facilities, including UV–Visible spectroscopy, Zeta analyzer, electrochemical and chromatographic techniques, enabling high-quality teaching and cutting-edge research. Through experienced faculty mentorship, strong research culture, and industry-relevant training, the department prepares graduates for Ph.D. studies, CSIR-NET/GATE, academic careers, research organizations, and chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

The Department organized an International Conference on “Chemistry and Sustainability: Pathways to Achieve the SDGs” on December 11–12, 2025, at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun.
A One-Week Winter Internship was conducted to provide UG and PG students with hands-on training in advanced laboratory techniques. The program covered natural product extraction, nanoparticle synthesis and characterization (DLS), biofuel experiments, electrochemical applications (batteries & supercapacitors), and exposure to sophisticated instruments such as IR, GC–MS, AAS, and UV–Vis spectroscopy.
An insightful guest lecture on “Nano-Technological Interventions for Environmental Remediation” was delivered by Dr. Alok Garg on 28 February 2025 at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University).
