The department of biosciences have initiated an impactful step towards the community outreach activities and thus organised different community visits to different NGOs working for the welfare of street animals, abandoned old age people, orphan/children below poverty.

Students of B.Sc. (Hons) Biotechnology and B.Sc. Forensic Sciences (II Semester) visited several old-age homes including Prem Dham, Maa Gauri Old Age Home, and Dhondupling Dokham Chushi Gangdruk Old Age Home. They also visited free educational centers such as Apne Sapne, Silver Lining – A Ray of Hope, and Seraphina Trust, along with NGOs working towards women empowerment. In addition, the students extended their visit to animal shelters, including Hope Animal Shelter, to understand and contribute to animal welfare.

The students actively participated in the visit and organized interactive sessions with the management teams of the NGOs as well as with the residents. They engaged in meaningful conversations to understand their experiences, challenges, and daily struggles, while also trying to build a sense of connection and empathy with them.

The primary aim of this activity was to expose young students to real-world situations and help them develop a deeper understanding of the societal challenges faced by underprivileged and abandoned individuals. It also encouraged them to become more socially aware, compassionate, and responsible citizens.
