Dr. Janhvi Mishra Rawat

Professor Biotechnology

Dr Janhvi Mishra Rawat has significantly contributed to the field of Medicinal Plant Biotechnology. She established propagation protocols for High Altitude Plants. The propagation studies of alpine plants made by Dr. Rawat and her associates have helped in the conservation of many endangered species like Picrorhiza kurrooa, Aconitum violaceum, Angelica glauca, Nardostachys jatamansi, Hedychium spicatum, Roscoea purpurea, Malaxis accuminata. Habenaria intermedia, Paris polyphylla, Podophyllum hexandrum etc. and establishing them in nature in the alpine field station. Dr Rawat received many prestigious awards and fellowships, viz. Young Women Scientist Award-2024 at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, jointly organized by Society for Plant Research (Springer Nature), India, Eminent Scientist of the year Award-2023” at CSIR- National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow in GPCC-2023, Excellence in Research Award-2023” by Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology, Govt. of Uttarakhand, Distinguished Women Scientist of the Year-2018, Govt. of Uttarakhand, Scientist of the year-2018, NESA, New Delhi, Young Scientist Award from DST, Govt. of India, Canadian commonwealth fellowship for Post Doctoral Research, Women Scientist fellowship (WOSA-DST), etc. during her more than 20 years long research journey. She has also attended several International and National conferences. She has published about 63 research articles in reputed National and International journals and many more in pipe pipeline. She has written many book chapters and handled several research projects as Principal Investigator, financed by ANRF, SERB, DST, NMPB, MOEF&CC and UGC, Govt of India.
